Since I was a child I have always wanted to write and produce plays, and soon began doing so.
The first one was set to go on. The stage was erected in the basement, the tickets were handed out to family. They sat in chairs we had set up, awaiting the performance.
There were two characters, portrayed by my brother, 8, and me, 11. We had our scripts. We walked onto the stage.
“I’m not doing it,” he said. And that was that.
But finally, after many years, I wrote another play that has been performed a few times to audience pleasure. This play is Jane Austen Readings for Readers Theater. This playwright cannot be more thrilled with this great achievement, finally, in my long life.
