Afternoons of an Author is taken from the title of a short story, more so an autobiographical essay, F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote near the end of his life when he was living in Baltimore, Maryland. Fitzgerald’s story tells of the activities, reminiscences and musings of the author one afternoon. (Fitzgerald published “Afternoon of an Author” in Esquire in August 1936.)
The stories and essays I include here, therefore, arise from my own musings, experiences and research conceived and created over the long, broad afternoons of my life. Most I have published in the same or altered form in magazines or newspapers.
